So on Friday B and I went to a BBQ at Teresa and Nick's house (B's friends from growing up in K-Town). We ate some freaking good food and chilled outside chit chatting until it got dark. Everything was all fun and games, until Nick and a few others decided we should go up on a hill in the middle of a dry brush field where everyone can see us and light off some illegal fireworks from Wyoming. SMRT!!!! My husband was calling himself the fire marshal while holding lit fireworks in his hands with sparks surrounding him. I swear I smelt burnt leg hairs from the spark that chilled on his leg for a few minutes. We probably only lit off about 4 illegal fireworks when these weird red and blue flashing lights appear. Wonder what that could be; yep it was the police. I personally had nothing to do with buying or lighting any of the fireworks, and if it were up to me, we wouldn't have gone up on a dry field hill to light them off. I thought I was about to get a ticket for something I was just a witness of. The police had everyone one with an ID stand in one group, and everyone else without ID (the kids, two people who work in law enforcement and a few people who didn't want to say they had ID) in a different group. Lucky for us it was just the police and not the fire marshal who caught us first because the police told us that if the fire marshal would have caught us the minimum fee is $500 for illegal fireworks. Also, we were with some smart friends who said the fireworks were everyone's and didn't really know who brought which fireworks. The cops where really nice and probably just didn't want to write 20 tickets, so they confiscated the illegal fireworks (to probably have their own firework show later) and let us off with a warning. Thank you Jesus! It was probably good we got caught early before anyone blew off a hand or lit a whole hill side on fire anyways (fireworks, alcohol and crazy pyromaniacs probably wouldn't have gone well for very long). FUNTIMES. Lesson of the story: don't light illegal fireworks for all to see or maybe just obey the law : )
